The Cumberland Trail Challenge

Accept the Challenge to:

• Create the Cumberland’s most scenic, historic, and connected corridor
• Build the trail, the bridges, the trailheads, the campsites
• Protect our best places — keeping them clean, safe, beautiful, intact, and diverse
• Serve CT visitors, neighbors, volunteers, students, recreationists, friends, constituents, partners, adventurers, citizens, supporters, advocates, defenders…
• Challenge yourself and your community
• Explore the wild places

Starting in 2011, The Cumberland Trail Challenge offers you a way to support the Cumberland Trail while challenging yourself to achieve a historical milestone. Walk 300 miles of the Cumberland Trail and collect pledges or make your own pledge to support the preservation and expansion of the trail. As the Challenge develops, there will be both physical and pledge goals.

The Cumberland Trail financial challenge is: Connect it, care for if, keep it open. Money collected from the Challenge sponsors and participants will be used:

• 20% for land acquisition
• 20% for trail development
• 20% for park infrastructure – roads, parking areas, gates
• 20% for resource management, research, and education
• 20% for park maintenance and visitor safety

The First Opportunity, the First Steps

The Challenge kicked off with the first event – Hiketoberfest on scenic Signal Mountain on October 9, 2011. More information will be posted about future events.
